ROCK HILL, South Carolina, October 16, 2017-3D Systemsannounced today the achievement of CE Mark for its D2P™ software for healthcare applications. 3D Systems' D2P software allows surgeons and medical staff with no technical background to quickly create accurate, digital 3D anatomical models from medical imaging data. These patient-specific models can be used for advanced visualization, 3D printing, surgical planning, and as an input into the design of patient-specific guides and instrumentations.

The D2P technology consolidates all 3D modeling preparation steps into one platform. Relying on unique automatic segmentation tools, the software enables doctors to create digital models within minutes without the need for third party applications. 3D digital models can be sent seamlessly and instantly to 3D Systems' printers, Geomagic Freeform Plus™, and Virtual Reality (VR) products. It can also allow for the export of files in standard formats to be used with other applications.

The unique streamlining process from medical images to a 3D digital model in various formats provides medical professionals with a variety of pre-operative surgical planning options -- without losing data and time between steps -- for an affordable price.

'With3D Systems' D2P software I was able to sit down on my own with the CT scan and very simply create a three dimensional model that could be sent off for 3D printing,' said Dr. Barry Katzen, Founder and Medical Director, Miami Cardiac and Vascular Institute. 'This software is giving practicing physicians the self-sufficiency to generate digital 3D models exactly the way we want them so we can get the information we need.'

'Our goal with D2P is to allow medical professionals to quickly create digital anatomical models on their desktops,' said Kevin McAlea, EVP, General Manager, Metals & Healthcare, 3D Systems. 'This represents a significant step forward for our end-to-end healthcare solutions, supporting the growth of 3D printed models and advanced surgical planning, including 3D printed guides and other instrumentation and patient-specific devices.'

With this advisory and under FDA Clearance K161841, D2P is available globally.
