ABN AMRO is pleased to announce that Simon Wood is rejoining ABN AMRO as Head of Financial Institutions Group Asia, based in Hong Kong.

Simon Wood has been Head of FI Investment Banking Asia Pacific at BNP Paribas since 2011. Prior to joining BNP Paribas, he held a similar role at Macquarie in Asia and, more recently, also had oversight of Europe and the US. Mr Wood worked at ABN AMRO from 2004 to 2005 as Head of FIG Asia. He began his career with an 8-year stint at Fox-Pitt, Kelton, the specialist FI boutique in London and then in Hong Kong. He is a British national who studied Aeronautical Engineering in Bristol and has been Asia-based since 2000.

Maureen Derooij, CEO APAC, said: 'Simon's broad Asian client network, his in-depth sector knowledge, his team-building skills and his infectious enthusiasm will give significant forward momentum to our international growth initiatives over the coming years.'

Jonathan Greenwood, Global Head of Financial Institutions, added: 'Simon is a career FIG specialist with a particular strength in the insurance sector. We are very happy to have him on board again.'

ABN AMRO has a solid international presence. Building on this, as announced in August 2016, ABN AMRO's ambition is to grow its international business. This includes the growth of corporate banking activities in neighbouring countries of the Netherlands as well as in specific sectors worldwide. In Asia, ABN AMRO has been active for more than a century and serves an international client base in sectors where the bank has a leading position, such as commodities financing, asset based lending, Clearing and Financial Institutions.
