Accenture (NYSE:ACN) has been positioned as a leader in the IDC MarketScape Worldwide Professional Services Firms for “SAP Suite on HANA” in Oil and Gas Vendor Assessment.

The report assessed services firms’ offerings and capabilities in SAP® Business Suite powered by SAP HANA®, including business consulting, technology consulting, systems integration, application outsourcing and hosted application management. It also considered vendors’ experience in serving oil and gas customers, global service delivery capabilities and intellectual property developed for SAP Business Suite powered by SAP HANA.

The report noted that Accenture “exercises this global scope and scale in a close partnership with SAP and reports delivering more than 100 HANA projects, having more than 20 SAP credentials, completing more than 80,000 hours of new SAP training as of mid-2014 and having more than 2,000 HANA implementation tools and accelerators in its repositories.”

“The latest IDC MarketScape leadership position for Accenture reflects our strong track record in combining deep business insights with new technologies to help our oil and gas clients improve operational efficiency and effectiveness,” said Andrew Smart, global managing director, Accenture energy industry group. “Even before low oil prices hit, the Accenture and SAP Business Solutions Group developed upstream production operations (UPO) software to deliver revenue accounting, enterprise resource planning (ERP) applications, and production accounting tools so that our clients can better operate in the cyclical oil and gas industry. This has since been bolstered by our continued investments in technologies, such as analytics, mobility and cloud.”

Accenture’s experience with multiple projects at a range of oil and gas companies, national and international, includes SAP Business Suite powered by SAP HANA and analytics solutions running on SAP HANA in areas such as production loss analysis and well maintenance optimization. Also, Accenture has helped oil and gas companies to understand the implications of adopting SAP Business Suite powered by SAP HANA, with and without optimization, and has developed additional digital transformation roadmaps for upstream and downstream clients.

"Oil and gas companies are looking at new technologies that can help them achieve greater operating efficiency and manage through the multiple disruptions hitting the industry,” said Jill Feblowitz, vice president, IDC Energy Insights. “‘SAP Suite on HANA’ with its potential for business transformation, is just such a technology. Oil and gas companies need service providers that bring both expertise with SAP solutions and experience in the oil and gas industry to help them leverage ‘SAP Suite on HANA.’ Even at this early stage of the market, there are service providers that are aggressively building their capabilities and offerings. Vendors that can show competency in ‘Suite on HANA’ will be the ones to watch as SAP moves along its roadmap for SAP S/4HANA."
