Accenture (NYSE:ACN) has successfully conducted a series of application process and functionality testing based on the SAP HANA® platform that shows chemical companies could reduce the time it takes to run complex data by as much as 40 percent. As a result, data-driven insights can be delivered to businesses much faster and in more detail, expediting the companies’ decision-making processes and overall operations.

Accenture Enterprise Services for chemicals conducted this testing over a period of six months from its chemicals center of excellence in Mumbai, part of Accenture’s Global Delivery Network. During the test phase, and as part of the data created, Accenture entered more than 10,000 materials along with several hundred thousand independent requirements, purchase orders, sales orders and purchase requisitions.

"This is another example of Accenture's ability to bring deep industry expertise to bear in helping our clients seize the business opportunities presented by advanced digital capabilities coming to market such as SAP HANA," said David Abood, global managing director of Accenture’s Chemicals industry group.

Benefits for chemical companies include lowering the total cost of ownership (TCO), faster innovation cycles, and a more insight-driven workforce. Accenture is also able to fast-track the deployment of business suite on SAP HANA for chemical companies through a pre-configured package, complete with nearly 100 end-to-end business processes.

Accenture followed standard operating models and proven field-tested delivery methods when conducting the tests that help ensure and facilitate quality and low-risk implementation, often speeding typical implementation timeframes. Accenture leveraged its deep chemical industry knowledge and High Performance Business research to conduct the testing and analyze the results.

“As in other industries, the most forward-looking chemical companies see technology as central to virtually every aspect of the business,” said Koenraad Schelfaut, a managing director in Accenture’s chemicals industry group. “Today, every business is a digital business, and all senior leaders should be able to understand, embrace and drive value from new technologies.”

Accenture’s chemicals center of excellence focuses on application design and maintenance, localization development, upgrades, data conversion, testing and material development services. It offers state-of-the-art servers, which host the latest range of SAP® solutions and leading industry best practices.

Accenture already provides a range of industry and functional solutions leveraging the SAP HANA platform such as the Marketing Performance Solution by Accenture and SAP, the Accenture HR Audit and Compliance tool and Upstream Production Operations for the oil & gas industry.

Accenture is recognized by independent research firms as a global leader among service implementation providers for SAP solutions and providers of application management services for SAP solutions with the largest practice for SAP solutions globally and a significant and growing number of professionals trained in SAP HANA software.
