A new IDC Manufacturing Insights IDC MarketScape report names Accenture (NYSE:ACN) a leader in product lifecycle management (PLM) systems integration. The report indicates Accenture has strong capabilities in all PLM areas, including system and industry knowledge as well as project management.

IDC Manufacturing Insights defines the PLM market as an enterprise software application solution that brings together a number of activities required to develop, model, track, manage and control products and to manufacture, sell, maintain and retire them.

“Our research shows Accenture is differentiated through its ability to define a manufacturer's architectural road map and strategy, as well as account management and customer support,” said Jeff Hojlo, IDC program director for Product Innovation Strategies and author of the report.

The report is titled IDC MarketScape: Worldwide Manufacturing PLM Systems Integrators and BPO Services 2015 Vendor Assessment (document #MI259496, October 2015). For this research the IDC MarketScape tool evaluated 10 players with annual revenue of at least $1 billion that offer systems integration, application development, maintenance and business process outsourcing services.

“The IDC MarketScape report validates decades of Accenture experience in the large and important product engineering and PLM markets,” said Kevin Prendeville, managing director, Accenture’s product lifecycle services business. “Our clients invest billions of dollars in digital product engineering, and Accenture – through our PLS offerings - has been helping them generate higher returns on those investments, faster time to market, increased engineering efficiency, and lower costs.”

Accenture delivers PLM offerings, including engineering services, to manufacturers in a wide range of manufacturing industries, such as high-tech, consumer products, automotive, aerospace and defense, life sciences and oil and gas.
