Accenture (NYSE: ACN) and the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), a Department of Defense operational committee, announced today that Accenture will sign a Statement of Support for the Guard and Reserve. The signing will occur as part of a day of resume development and interview skill workshops that Accenture is hosting at the North Carolina Employment Security Commission Offices on May 21, 2013. Mike Salvino, Accenture's group chief executive for Business Process Outsourcing will sign the pledge and will be joined by Bud Baker, chairman of the North Carolina ESGR Committee.

The Statement of Support confirms Accenture joins other employers in pledging the following:

  • We fully recognize, honor and enforce the Uniformed Services Employment and Re-Employment Rights Act (USERRA).
  • Our managers and supervisors will have the tools they need to effectively manage those employees who serve in the Guard and Reserve.
  • We appreciate the values, leadership and unique skills service members bring to the workforce and will encourage opportunities to hire Guardsmen, Reservists and Veterans.
  • We will continually recognize and support our country's service members and their families in peace, in crises and in war.

"Supportive employers like Accenture are critical to maintaining the readiness and strength of the nation's Guard and Reserve units and allow Guardsmen and Reservists to serve our country more effectively and with greater peace of mind," said Bud Baker, chairman of the North Carolina ESGR Committee. "By hosting workshops to help military professionals transition to careers in the private sector as well as by signing this Statement of Support, Accenture shows it is a military-friendly employer and recognizes the skills, experience and leadership military service people bring to the workplace."

"Supporting our employees who serve in the military as well as recruiting those who are transitioning out of the service is a priority for Accenture," said Mike Salvino, group chief executive for Business Process Outsourcing at Accenture. "From the ESGR Statement of Support and the job search workshops Accenture sponsors around the country to our specialized military recruiting team, we will continue to help veterans transition from deployment to employment."
