Towergate, Europe's largest independently owned insurance intermediary, is undertaking an IT infrastructure transformation across its entire business to address challenges posed by legacy systems and lack of integration and has chosen Accenture (NYSE:ACN) as its strategic service provider.

The transformation programme focuses on four service towers – networks, data centres, end-user computing and service-support. Towergate has chosen to work with Accenture to migrate infrastructure and applications to the public cloud – supporting the data centre and end user computing service towers. Towergate and Accenture have also signed a five-year arrangement for Accenture to manage service support across the whole IT infrastructure estate.

“This is a clear signal that we are committed to a turnaround plan which is now in its early stages, enabling efficient integration across Towergate. We have been vocal in our belief that the transformation of our IT infrastructure will give us the platform we need to accelerate growth, enabling our front line staff to be competitive, on and off line,” commented Adrian Brown, COO, Towergate.

“To ensure we pave the way for growth, we are transforming our entire IT infrastructure to positively change how we run our business and serve our diverse client base. We chose Accenture to help lead this programme to build a stable, scalable and flexible infrastructure to support our future vision. Accenture’s leadership in cloud deployment and their commitment to service quality are absolutely the qualifications we are looking for in a strategic service provider,” commented Gordon Walters, CIO, Towergate.

“We are delighted to have been selected by Towergate to work on this strategically important programme. In today’s increasingly competitive and diverse industry, insurance companies need agile IT operations to adapt to change and drive profitability; transformation is key to achieving this,” commented Hammad Rafique, General Insurance lead, UKI, Accenture.

“As many industries pivot to the new world of cloud, our investment in the Accenture Cloud Platform, our multi-cloud management platform, and cloud-based transformation processes and tools will form a vital part of helping Towergate achieve the operational benefits of this model,” commented Kamran Ikram, Infrastructure Services lead UKI, Accenture.
