Actuate Corporation (NASDAQ: BIRT), The BIRT Company and the leader in personalized analytics and insights, today announced that its OEM partner, Integrated Data Services (IDS), will be featured in a complimentary “Customer Success” webcast on April 29th. John Cole, Chief Technology Officer at IDS, will provide a live demonstration of how BIRT is embedded by IDS in the development and integration of their IT solutions for the U.S. Air Force and other Department of Defense (DoD) organizations.

IDS uses BIRT to enhance its enterprise program and financial management software by providing end-users with direct access to their data, resulting in increased reporting transparency that improves business processes for various DoD organizations. IDS depended on BIRT and BIRT iHub™ to handle the reporting requirements as part of a rewrite of IDS’ own Comprehensive Cost and Requirement (CCaR™) System, which automates the processes used by acquisition programs to capture financial requirements, track budgets, identify funded/unfunded requirements, establish spend plans, execute budgets and conduct accounting reconciliation.

“BIRT and BIRT iHub were the only tools that gave us exactly what we needed,” said Cole. “We were able to easily embed BIRT into our pre-existing CCaR, which subsequently enabled unique user interactivity and self-service for building and viewing data – all within safe and secure connections.”

Cole sets the technical direction and architecture, leads the implementation of designs, mentors developers, ensures code quality, and actively participates in development, for all IDS products and projects. He is also responsible for monitoring new technologies and assessing their potential to become new products or services.

During the webcast, Cole will discuss the BIRT capabilities that empower the IDS CCaR System:

  • BIRT is technically flexible and easily embeddable through APIs, providing greater control over embedded functionality.
  • The multitenant architecture, data-objects and enhanced security allows for virtually unlimited yet secure scalability.
  • BIRT’s interactivity and agility enable quicker responses to DoD and Congressional inquiries.
  • Increased transparency and enhanced use of data within BIRT improves internal and external communications.
  • Real time, direct access to data improves efficiency, resulting in faster time to reports, visualizations and insights.

The webcast will take place at 11 a.m. Pacific Time on April 29, 2014. Register at: http://www.actuate.com/info/idswebcastq214.
