Adesso : increases its investment in com2m GmbH, expanding its activities in the internet of things as a future field of business

Dortmund, 11 January 2018 - adesso AG has increased its investment in Dortmund-based com2m GmbH from a shareholding of 24.9 % to roughly 60 %. This investment of under EUR 1 million has taken place against the backdrop of dynamically developing demand for consulting and solutions within the context of the internet of things or 'IoT' for short. In this way, adesso and com2m have already been able to gain their first major projects. com2m's IoT platform plays a significant role in this respect, fulfilling new customer requirements with practical solutions and a results-based approach. For example, the application provides a basis to efficiently digitally connect machines and devices, and has been able to achieve a pleasingly high degree of maturity since the start of com2m's collaboration with adesso at the beginning of 2016. As an alternative or basis for individual solutions, the platform can be used to set up applications quickly and easily. This makes it a much more affordable way to implement IoT solutions. It significantly reduces the initial hurdles in the way of digitalising services and processes.

adesso's majority shareholding will now help to expand and utilise this potential. The experts at com2m will be even more closely involved as part of the adesso Group in future and will benefit for their part from a broad customer base and the group's realisation capacities. Increasing its shareholdings is one aspect of the way that adesso is expanding its solution expertise in the field of Industry 4.0. The platform allows for the monitoring, management and maintenance of machines, processes and systems in real time. Functions like this are particularly valuable in mechanical engineering, an industry that adesso has only been involved with sporadically so far. com2m has been active in this market since 2013 and specialises in solutions for machine-to-machine communication (M2M). The digital transformation is also leading to growing requirements in this industry, which means that strategically integrating com2m's expertise within adesso's comprehensive digitalisation portfolio will generate additional business potential.
