Hi g h l i g h t s

Aditya Birla Minerals (ASX - ABY) ("Aditya Birla" or "The Company")
is pleased to announce an upward revision of the in-situ Mineral
Resource for the Mt Gordon Copper Operations at 30/09/2012 now totaling 162Mt @ 1.28% Cu above a reporting cut-off of 0.5% Cu.
This represents a 58% increase in contained copper over that reported in the ASX release dated 29th May 2012.

Mt G o r d o n Mi n e r a l R e s o u r c e

The in-situ Mineral Resource for the Mt Gordon Copper Operations
at 30/09/2012 now totals 162Mt @ 1.28% Cu above a reporting
cut-off of 0.5% Cu. This represents a 58% increase in contained copper over that reported in the ASX release dated 29th May 2012. The Mineral Resource has been depleted for mining of the Mammoth Deposit to 30th September 2012.
The increase is a result of the: -
• Re-assessment of the material surrounding the Mammoth Deposit from the current surface to the projected depth of the Mammoth Fault.
• Recent deep drilling intersections beneath Mammoth F lens, which were returned in hole UM1532: 17m @ 1.11% Cu from the beginning of the hole which is an extension of D lens and 34m @ 1.27% Cu from 652m including 5m @ 1.89% Cu from 652m and 5m @ 2.6% Cu from 662m, 19m @ 1.97% Cu from 708m including 2m @ 10.16% Cu from 719m which are interpreted as an extension of F lens. This hole was

drilled from underground level 4530. (ASX release 28th
September 2012)
• One diamond drill hole (SD529) drilled beneath the Esperanza South Deposit and extending mineralisation to beyond 4600mRL by returning 81 metres intercept at 0.99% Cu from 599m including 12m @ 1.62% Cu, 15m @ 1.40% Cu from 623m and 5m @ 2.30% Cu from 671m. (ASX release
28th September 2012).
• Updated Greenstone resource model with additional drill hole information.
• Remodelling of the Esperanza/Pluto mineralisation to include the northern extent of the Pluto Deposit.
• Delineation of a maiden Mineral Resource for Mammoth
North
The Mt Gordon Mineral Resource cut-off grade has been set at
0.5% Cu and is based partially on the outcome of an analysis undertaken by AMC Consultants Pty Ltd into the potential to mine underground using sub-level caving techniques with no back fill. This identified a mining cut-off of 0.7% Cu to provide a diluted head grade of 1.3% Cu. The use of a 0.5% Cu cut-off grade returns an average in-situ grade in line with this result and allows for the reporting of near surface material which may be mined at a lower cut-off than that proposed by the underground mining study. The Mammoth estimate was audited by Shane Fieldgate, Consultant Resource Geologist and the Esperanza South, Esperanza-Pluto, Mammoth North, Greenstone, Mammoth Deeps and Mammoth Surrounds estimate was audited by Richard Sulway, Consultant Resource Geologist, both from Snowden Mining Industry Consultants Pty Ltd.
The Mt Gordon Mineral Resource includes individual estimates for Mammoth/Esperanza/Pluto and Esperanza South Deposits (DataGeo); Greenstone and a maiden estimate for the Mammoth North Deposit (Sivasamy) using all information available as at 30th September 2012.
The Mammoth North Deposit is located approximately 150m north of the Mt Gordon Mine. The Company recently completed a first phase diamond drilling programme on this deposit.

To date a total of 26 (22 historical and 4 recent) diamond drill holes at the Mammoth North Deposit has defined a west dipping zone of copper mineralisation that occurs along the regionally significant Mammoth Extended Fault and is hosted within the brecciated Whitworth Quartzite. The drill hole details are included in Appendix-A. A summary of the estimation method adopted is provided below.
The Mammoth North Mineral Resource was estimated using: -
• A mineralisation constraint based on a 0.2% Cu external boundary and appropriate geology.
• Drill holes intersecting the constraint were composited to
1m down hole.
• Grade statistics and continuity were assessed using the composites and a continuity model established.
• The mineralisation constraints were loaded into a block model with block sizes appropriate to the drill hole spacing and the constraint dimensions.
• Grade was estimated using OK (Ordinary Kriging) with top-
cuts applied to control outlier grades.
• Specific gravity was assigned to the blocks based on measurement upon the drill hole core.
• The model was validated by comparison to the input data and classified according to appropriate criteria relating to confidence in the input data, the position of the input data and the statistical results of the estimation.
The "Mammoth Surrounds" area encompasses from surface to the projected position of the Mammoth Fault and has been estimated in a very similar fashion to that utilised for the Mammoth Deposit. This area has been depleted for all recorded underground mining information that is in the possession of Aditya Birla.
The estimation complies with the requirements of the 2004 JORC Code for the estimation of Mineral Resources.
The Mt Gordon deposit locations are shown in Figure 1 and 2.

Production during the previous six months was depleted from the new Mammoth/Esperanza/Pluto Mineral Resource. The depletion work was undertaken by DataGeo and Sivasamy. The Mineral Resource above 0.50% Cu is shown Table 1.

Competent Person Statement:
The information in this table which relates to Mineral Resources for the Mt Gordon operations is based on and accurately reflects reports prepared by Mr Peter Ball and Mr Sean Sivasamy in 2012.
Mr Ball and Mr Sivasamy have the necessary experience relevant to the style of mineralisation, the type of deposit and the activity undertaken to qualify as a 'Competent Person' under the JORC Code for Reporting of Mineral Resources and Ore Reserves (2004
Edition). Mr Ball and Mr Sivasamy have given their consent to the
inclusion of the material in the form and context in which it appears. Mr Ball is Principal of DataGeo Geological Consultant (an independent geological consultancy). Mr Sivasamy is a full time employee of Aditya Birla Minerals Limited.
The Mt Gordon Mineral Resource cut-off grade has been lowered based on the outcome of an analysis undertaken by AMC Consultants Pty Ltd in association with a pre-feasibility study for Mt Gordon. The analysis indicated that there are reasonable prospects of eventual economic extraction of material above a
0.5% Cu cut-off grade, based on a bulk underground mining method assuming no backfill.

The Measured and Indicated Mineral Resources tabled above are inclusive of those Mineral Resources modified to produce the Ore Reserve. In all Resources and Reserves tables, significant figures do not imply precision. Figures are rounded according to JORC Code guidelines.
The depletion of the Mineral Resources for the Mt Gordon Operations for the 2012 reporting is based on and accurately reflects information prepared by Mr Peter Ball and Mr Sivasamy. Mr Ball is a member of the AusIMM (CP-Geo) and Mr Sivasamy is a Member of the AusIMM. Mr Ball and Mr Sivasamy have the qualifications and necessary experience with this style of mineralisation to qualify as a competent person as described by the 2004 JORC Code for reporting of Mineral Resources and Ore Reserves. Mr Ball and Mr Sivasamy have given their consent to the inclusion of the material in the form and context in which it appears.
