A newly formed theatre group in Cwmbran is putting on its first full performance at the Dolman Theatre in Newport city centre, with support from local employer Admiral Group.

Glass Ceiling Theatre, which has around 35 cast members aged between 18 and 35, is a musical theatre group. It formed in 2017 and its performance of The Wedding Singer at the Dolman Theatre is its first public show. The cast will perform with a live band from the Bristol area which has been paid for by Admiral.

Glass Ceiling cast member, Ceri Dickinson, works for Admiral's Claims department in Newport and applied to the company's Community Chest scheme when the theatre group were looking for funding to enable them to put on the run of shows.

Ceri, who plays Angie in The Wedding Singer, said, 'We are very grateful for the support Admiral has given us for our first show. As a small non-profit theatre company any support goes a long way to ensure the continued running of the group.

'Glass Ceiling Theatre is a great platform for young people looking to break into the world of professional theatre. All cast members are exposed to dance, acting and singing coaching to make sure the show we put on is of a very high standard.'

The Wedding Singer is on at the Dolman Theatre until Saturday 2nd December. Tickets are still available and cost £12 each and can be purchased from www.dolmantheatre.co.uk or on 01633 263670.
