Hundreds of staff at local employer Admiral have taken part in the Mr X Appeal, donating over 1,000 Christmas presents to disadvantaged children throughout the Swansea area.

There are 4,500 underprivileged children in and around the Swansea area who will wake up on Christmas morning without a present to open. The Mr. X Appeal, now in its 58th year, aims to help a local in need child in a personal way at Christmas.

Signing their cards 'With love from Father Christmas', every Admiral staff member who donates a gift, gets given the first name, gender and age of a child who would otherwise go without a Christmas present. There is no minimum or maximum spend and staff members have been extremely charitable, in fact many donated large gifts, such as tablets, games consoles and sports equipment.

Angela Macdonald from Admiral's Central Quality department has been coordinating the Mr. X Appeal for her colleagues over the past 12 years. This year, however, her daughter Donna has been promoted to chief elf for the first time.

Angela said, ''Admiral staff in both Swansea, Cardiff and Newport have been most generous over the years. This year was a brilliant success again with over 1,000 gifts given to help make a child's Christmas a little brighter.''

Admiral has been collecting presents for the Mr X Appeal for twelve years, with the number growing every Christmas. Starting in Swansea, this has expanded to include donations from the Newport and Cardiff offices, with it being the 5th year in succession that Admiral has donated the most gifts to the appeal.
