Advanced Braking Technology (ASX: ABV) ('ABT' or 'the Company') is pleased to announce the retail launch of its revolutionary new polymer brakes and new wheel end product, as well as some significant new fleet orders.

    Terra Dura Retail Brand Launch

ABT has partnered with retail distributor, Harrop Engineering, to launch the SIBS® retail brake range under the new brand name 'Terra Dura'.

The Terra Dura Polymer Brake will be displayed at the '4x4 Outdoors Show, Fishing & Boating Expo' in Melbourne between 19 and 21 August, 2016. The brake on display will be for the rear axle of a Toyota Landcruiser, a popular vehicle amongst 4x4 enthusiasts.

The Terra Dura Polymer Brake is ideal for retail customers who:

  • operate in wet, sandy or muddy conditions off road

  • suffer salt water and sand corrosion from towing boats and driving on sand

  • require greater towing capacity from a brake (Terra Dura Polymer Brake is rated to 3.9 tonnes)

  • require the rear wheels to align with the front wheels on new model Landcruisers

Terra Dura Wheel End Launch

ABT has developed a new Terra Dura wheel end product aimed at providing a lower cost, steel encased brake. The brake provides significantly improved safety features over standard brakes and is a mid- range product, priced between the premium SIBS® 4 Failsafe Brake and the Terra Dura Polymer Brake. The Terra Dura Wheel End is suitable for both commercial and retail use.

Trial well developed for Terra Dura Wheel End

Following successful paid trials conducted on four vehicles over the past six months, Freeport Mine Indonesia is in the final stages of determining its requirements for its fleet of 60 Isuzu NPS300 vehicles. Our solution is the only one trialled and ABT has provided a quote for $780,000 for the rollout of the fleet in the coming year. We expect a decision imminently.

Fleet order from Anglo Platinum for SIBS®4

Through its distribution partner Transerve, ABT has received an order for 34 SIBS®4 brake sets, valued at over $250,000, for Toyota Hilux's and Landcruiser's at Anglo Platinum's Madikwe Platinum mine in South Africa. The order follows months of bidding activity in South Africa and is, in part, a response to the regulatory requirement for mines to adopt failsafe brakes for light mining vehicles by September 2016.

Fleet order from BHP Olympic Dam for SIBS®4

In conjunction with Northpoint Toyota, ABT has received an order for 30 vehicles over the next 6 months in support of BHP's Olympic Dam expansion. SIBS®4 failsafe brakes are specified by BHP for underground SUV vehicles.

Kazakhstan and Mongolia distributors

ABT continues to expand its reach through establishing new global distributors with close ties to international mining customers. In particular, the recent appointment of ARB Kazakhstan and UL Equipment in Mongolia reflects the significant opportunity that those markets represent. ABT has already received a small order from ARB in support of an existing customer.

Trailer Brake reaches 230,000km before its first service interval

The trial of ABT's Trailer Brake with Linfox in Port Hedland continued throughout the year, and as expected, the brake has delivered exceptional performance, reaching 230,000km before requiring its first routine service.

As time and resources allow, it is the Company's intention to relaunch the Trailer Brake as part of the Terra Dura polymer range. This will reduce the price and weight of the product, attracting transport operators with an eye on their total cost of fleet ownership.

Commenting on the Company's recent developments, ABT's Managing Director, Graeme Sumner said, "The introduction of the lower cost Terra Dura product range is designed to broaden the application of our unique braking technologies beyond the mining market as well as to expand the scope within the mining sector. Our diversification strategy will allow us to adapt and thrive throughout cyclical challenges such as the current slump in mining activity and we are committed to continuously develop and improve our technologies to return value to shareholders."
