Aegon has been included once again in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) as one of the world's most sustainable insurance companies.

The Dow Jones Sustainability Index annual results were released earlier this morning. Aegon features in both the Dow Jones Sustainability Index World and Dow Jones Sustainability Index Europe indexes.

Sustainability Score Up By Two Points

Aegon further improved on last year's strong performance by increasing its score by two points to a total of 82, to be among the top performers in its sector. The Dow Jones Sustainability Index is probably the world's best known index of corporate sustainability performance.

"In recent years, we've worked hard to integrate sustainability into our overall corporate strategy," said Aegon CEO Alex Wynaendts.

Responsible Investment

"Our strong performance in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index this year recognizes the steps we have taken throughout our company, particularly in areas like customer relations and responsible investment. These activities are central to our business."

"This result is good news, but it doesn't mean we will relax our efforts. We are building a profitable, sustainable business - one that has a strong sense of responsibility, both for the important social role it plays in helping people to save and invest for the future and the broader impact it has on those around Aegon. This is key to our company purpose of helping our customers take responsibility for securing their financial future."

Aegon has been a member of the Dow Jones Sustainability Index World Index since its inception in 1999. The company is also part of the FTSE4Good index and the Euronext Vigeo index of the twenty most sustainable companies in the Benelux.
