In the 2016 Corporate Equality Index (CEI), Transamerica, Aegon's popular brand in North America, scored 90 out of a possible 100. The 2016 CEI rated a total of 1,027 businesses in the report.

Transamerica's rating was slightly below 100 due to the fact that, while its health care plans provide equal coverage to all employees, the current offerings exclude elective coverage for gender reassignment.
