NEW YORK, Nov. 25, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Aeropostale, Inc. (NYSE: ARO), a mall-based specialty retailer of casual apparel for young women and men, and DoSomething.org, the largest not-for-profit organization for young people and social change, today announced its partnership with British pop band The Vamps to promote school sign ups for the eighth annual "Teens for Jeans" campaign.

"Teens for Jeans" encourages young people across the U.S., Puerto Rico, Canada, and Mexico to run a jeans drive in their school or community to provide gently-used jeans for youth experiencing homelessness. Approximately one in three homeless people in the U.S. is under the age of 18 and one of the most requested items that young people in homeless shelters ask for is a pair of jeans. The Campaign has collected and distributed over 4 million pairs of jeans to homeless teens in need.

All schools and individuals can drop off their jeans at any Aeropostale store, beginning January 12, 2015. All donations will be distributed to local homeless shelters and charities. The top collecting schools will each win a $5,000 school grant and the school that collects the most jeans will also win a private school concert by The Vamps.

The Vamps are a British four-piece pop band consisting of Brad Simpson on vocals, James McVey on guitar, Tristan Evans on drums and Connor Ball on bass. They recently released their album "Meet The Vamps" in the U.S. and will perform at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade® on Thursday, November 27, 2014.

The Vamps will kick-off the campaign with an acoustic performance and jeans donation at the Aeropostale store in Times Square for VIP fans. The Vamps will also star in a public service announcement for the campaign and will encourage their fans on social media to collect and donate jeans.

Young people can sign up at www.TeensForJeans.com now for tips on how to start their drive and to enter to win a performance by The Vamps at their school.

"We're excited to partner with DoSomething.org and The Vamps to kick-off our eighth annual 'Teens for Jeans' campaign," said Scott Birnbaum, Senior Vice President of Marketing and E-commerce at Aeropostale, Inc. "With their enormous following and teen engagement, The Vamps are a perfect choice to help raise awareness for such an important cause."

The Vamps join a long list of celebrity supporters of "Teens for Jeans" including Fifth Harmony, Drew Barrymore, Bella Thorne, Chloe Grace Moretz, Demi Lovato, Rachel Bilson, Hayden Christensen, Chace Crawford, Ashley Greene, and others.

"We're thrilled to partner with Aeropostale and DoSomething.org for this year's 'Teens for Jeans' campaign," said Brad Simpson of The Vamps. "We're donating our own jeans because it's so easy to get involved and help the millions of teens experiencing homelessness."
