Aetna (NYSE: AET) is offering resources to members who have been affected by Hurricane Matthew in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina.

If necessary, affected Aetna members may refill their prescriptions early. Those who use Aetna’s mail-order pharmacy can either get a prescription at an alternate delivery location or refill a prescription that may have been lost, damaged or destroyed.

In addition to helping with prescription refills, Aetna can help members who have been evacuated from their homes find care and behavioral health support, among other services. Aetna is also extending claim and appeal filing times.

Aetna professionals who have experience dealing with traumatic events are available to help. Aetna has opened its Resources for Living services to all members, regardless of whether their plan sponsor currently offers the program. The Aetna Resources for Living program offers a wide range of support services such as confidential counselling, resources for elder care, child care, legal and financial matters, web-based information and more. Members can contact Aetna Resources for Living 24/7 for useful information about affected areas, available shelters, government resources and referrals.

Recognizing the magnitude of this disaster and its potentially devastating impact, the Aetna Foundation announced it will be making a $50,000 disaster relief contribution to the American Red Cross, as well as a $50,000 contribution to Team Rubicon, to support current and forthcoming disaster relief efforts.

Throughout the company’s history, Aetna employees have responded swiftly and generously whenever disaster has struck. Through its Disaster Response matching gift program, the Aetna Foundation will match employees' disaster relief donations dollar-for-dollar (up to $5,000 per donor per year) to any U.S.-based nonprofit providing hurricane-related disaster relief.
