(RSNA Booth 4737, South Hall)Agfa HealthCare announces today the U.S. launch of IMPAX Agility, a brand new imaging platform that unifies the functionalities provided by traditional disparate RIS, PACS, reporting, 3D, connectivity and clinical applications. IMPAX Agility is a unified imaging management platform that was designed from the ground up to automate task-based clinical productivity. Recently released for sale in the U.S., IMPAX Agility will be officially debuted during the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) annual meeting in Chicago, December 1 - 5, 2013.

"The traditional PACS model has served radiology well for the past two decades, but traditional systems will not be able to efficiently address the new challenges in diagnostic imaging as radiology and non-radiology modalities and volumes increase and as the emphasis to reduce imaging costs continues" says Bob Craske, Marketing Manager, Agfa HealthCare. "IMPAX Agility is a needed evolution in order to keep imaging departments performing optimally and at the forefront of providing efficient care," explains Craske.

IMPAX Agility - Diagnostic Imaging, Redefined

IMPAX Agility was designed to bemuch more than a PACS; it is a modern IT platform with an innovative approach to consolidate and simplify IT integration efforts, and ultimately provide cost-saving image management across the healthcare continuum. It unitesthe functionality of disparate systems within one solution, lowering the total cost of ownership by requiring less equipment and reducing complexity.

Designed to be a departmental imaging platform, IMPAX Agility is targeted to improve productivity, reduce cost and facilitate quality outcomes. The comprehensive solution encompasses capabilities typically found in a RIS, multi-department PACS, clinical applications, speech recognition, reporting, web results distribution, and connectivity into a single system.

In addition to overall departmental and facility benefits, IMPAX Agility streamlines navigation for the radiologist with a dynamic user interface and native diagnostic tools to support enhanced productivity. A powerful task-based workflow engine helps users follow the appropriate steps for each procedure and circumstance, from ordering to result distribution. This supports a healthcare facility's ability to meet regulatory obligations and workflow best practices, as well as improving clinical communication through mobile access.

IMPAX Agility's use throughout the world is growing and is proving to provide immediate benefits for radiology departments and healthcare organizations as a whole. Among the first sales and installations are Hospital IGESP, located at the Bela Vista, Sao Paulo, Brazil; Sint-Rembert's Hospital in Torhout, Belgium; Southern Ohio Medical Center, andMontgomery General Hospital in Montgomery, West Virginia.

"Our global customer base has already embraced IMPAX Agility as we have seen successful installations across Europe and South America, where everyone from radiology to IT are noting the range of improvements enabled by this platform," said Michael Green, president, Agfa HealthCare Americas Region. "With several sales established in just a few weeks since commercializing the product on this continent, all signs are that the global success will be mirrored in the U.S. and throughout North America."
