- SRMC and Agfa HealthCare successfully launch fully integrated "document + image EHR" within SRMC's Cardiology Department - Installation unites IMPAX CV12 with Agfa HealthCare's IMPAX HeartStation ECG Management System to deliver single-point image, ECG and other report access - SRMC targets improved efficiencies, patient care management, reporting capabilities and cost savings from IMPAX CV12 empowered system

(ACC.14, Booth #2831) As the "Evolution of Visual Healthcare" gains momentum, Southern Regional Medical Center (SRMC), a 331-bed full-service hospital managed by Emory Healthcare, and Agfa HealthCare announced today that SRMC's newly installed "image-enabled" cardiovascular information system has generated significant improvements in clinician workflow efficiency and patient care management since the system was launched in the hospital's cardiology department in April 2013.

One of the first installations to leverage Agfa HealthCare's IMPAX CV12, SRMC's new cardiovascular information system is a fully integrated "document + image EHR" that connects patient medical records with corresponding images, including echocardiograms, ECGs and cardiac catheterizations. The system enables the hospital's 80-plus cardiology team, including its 40 cardiologists, to have real-time access to a patient's full cardiovascular history, providing a platform to evaluate and report on an individual's current condition and monitor his or her progress.

Complete, real-time picture of patient condition
"Our newly launched EHR with IMPAX CV12 is nothing short of groundbreaking in that for the first time our cardiovascular department can seamlessly consult a patient's medical history alongside images generated within cardiology and radiology to get a complete, real-time picture of the person's condition," commented Marcia Frye, Director of Cardiovascular Services, Southern Regional Medical Center. "Though less than a year since going live, we are already realizing significant improvements in clinician workflow efficiency, standardized reporting and overall patient care management; all of which we anticipate will translate into a cost savings of $700,000 over the next five years. Agfa HealthCare has been a tremendous partner and asset for SRMC, and we are excited to benefit from the company's imaging technology and consultancy expertise going forward."

IMPAX CV12 is Agfa HealthCare's integrated digital solution for cardiology departments. IMPAX CV12 is designed to seamlessly integrate with the industry's largest health information systems and EHRs to connect patient information from different sources into a centralized system, providing clinicians with secure and timely access to patient information regardless of location and affiliation.

"The success at SRMC highlights the true interoperability and power of Agfa HealthCare's IMPAX platform," stated Tom Agar, Global Cardiovascular Marketing Manager at Agfa HealthCare. "SRMC's newly launched EHR not only combines IMPAX CV12 with IMPAX HeartStation ECG to enable image and ECG management, but it also aligns with Agfa HealthCare's IMPAX PACS for radiology to promote cross-departmental access and sharing of patient documents and images. The result is a robust system that allows clinicians to focus on patient care, procedures and exams, while empowering cardiology, radiology and the hospital as a whole to operate more efficiently and cost effectively."
