(ACC.12, Booth #12055, Chicago, IL) Agfa HealthCare today announces that a new version of its Cardiovascular Information System (CVIS), IMPAX CV12, will be unveiled at the American College of Cardiology's (ACC's) 61st Annual Scientific Session & Expo, March 24 - 26, 2012, in Chicago. Designed with an innovative modular approach, along with a focus on helping organizations meet regulatory and standards requirements, IMPAX CV12 provides cardiologists and their healthcare facilities with a CVIS platform that they can rely on for delivering patient care today and long into the future.

Improved access to technology and feature developments

One of the core advantages of the IMPAX CV12 platform is its unique modular design. The first Agfa HealthCare Cardiovascular product to employ this structure, IMPAX CV12 enables users to take advantage of new product developments as they are released. Beginning with version 12.0 and continuing through future product releases, IMPAX CV12 establishes a framework in order to provide users with the robust functionality that they need. With the very first release, users can benefit from a new patient management module that includes enhanced search capability, an improved graphical user interface (GUI), and a patient worklist designed for improved cardiologist workflow.

"By adopting best practices from other areas of healthcare, Agfa HealthCare is successfully delivering a redesigned version of our IMPAX Cardiovascular product that will bring improved access to technology and feature developments, while also enabling users to achieve a new level of regulatory standardization," explained Charles Wickens, Global General Manager, Cardiovascular IT, Agfa HealthCare. "IMPAX CV12 is the first step in a long-term product vision that, because of our innovative design approach, will enable us to continue meeting the needs of cardiologists and their healthcare organizations both in the short term and for years to come."

A new level of standardization

As a committed leader in supporting healthcare standards, Agfa HealthCare has designed IMPAX CV12 to provide support for SNOMED-CT, and subsequently other standard terminologies, to help facilitate regulatory reporting compliance by customers.

Enhanced infrastructure and improved serviceability

At the core of IMPAX CV12 is a robust infrastructure that, along with support for Oracle 11g and Microsoft Windows Server 2008r2 software, makes the product easily upgradable and able to be rolled out remotely. This streamlines the process for upgrades and serviceability, saving facilities time and resources. The product can also be virtualized to reduce the hardware footprint so organizations can achieve a lower total cost of ownership. Finally, facilities can depend on the security of the system, which meets the rigorous Department of Defense (DoD) security requirements.

As with all products in the expansive Agfa HealthCare portfolio, IMPAX CV12 supports Agfa HealthCare's Imaging Clinical Information System (ICIS) platform to bring images into the Electronic Health Record (EHR). Whether a facility elects to have integrated cardiovascular DICOM archiving and viewing at the departmental level, or on the enterprise level, IMPAX Cardiovascular can meet the need. A vendor- neutral CVIS, IMPAX CV12 will feed into the vendor-neutral ICIS repository, eliminating the need to manage images and data at the departmental level, while also allowing for improved delivery of care by providing access to the comprehensive longitudinal patient imaging record. With the ICIS services platform, images and associated data are available to clinicians, at virtually any location, in a meaningful and clinically useful way.

IMPAX CV12 is currently available for sale. For more information about the product or to schedule a demonstration at the ACC conference, please visit Agfa HealthCare in booth #12-55 or contact salesinfo@agfa.com.
