- New solutions to be showcased include Enterprise Imaging, HYDMEDIA* enterprise content management solution, DR 400, DX-D 40 digital detector and next generation MUSICA image processing software. - Solutions enhance integrated care and collaboration throughout the patient care continuum, to meet the patient-centric healthcare model. - Existing solutions being shown support need for flexibility, ease of use, new buying models, and dose reduction.

At the Arab Health Congress, held in Dubai, UAE, from 26-29 January 2015, Agfa HealthCare is showcasing how its range of solutions is advancing to meet the 'Future of Radiology', supporting the evolving needs of the healthcare industry and players.

"In a patient-centric healthcare model, the radiologist can play a more central role." says Franz Tiani, Managing Director HE/North, Central & Eastern Europe of Agfa HealthCare. "The enterprise imaging and content management solutions we are showing at the Arab Health Congress give the radiologist a platform for enhancing integrated care and intercommunication amongst all the players, while our imaging solutions aim to balance the increasing need of the hospital for image quality, ease of use, scalability, cost effectiveness and dose reduction."

New solutions on show for enterprise imaging, content management and digital radiography

Agfa HealthCare will showcase how it is using its extensive experience and expertise in digital radiography and imaging IT to support the goals of healthcare providers around the world with new solutions.

Enterprise Imaging: Agfa HealthCare has converged its enterprise and departmental diagnostic imaging solutions into a single platform that allows any physician to create, collaborate on, exchange, view and manage a comprehensive medical imaging record throughout the patient's care. The Agfa HealthCare VNA (vendor-neutral archive) is PACS-, storage- and platform-vendor neutral, and compliant with relevant IHE integration profiles, while the Agfa HealthCare XERO Viewer ** enables any stakeholder to view their relevant images on a commonly-used Internet browser with a modest network connection. The result is a universal delivery tool that supports integrated care across the department, enterprise and region, enhancing cost-effectiveness and efficiency.

Enterprise Imaging for Radiology: Agfa HealthCare will showcase new, enhanced functionalities for collaboration, reporting and viewing, and offsite hosted deployment for its unified imaging management platform. Radiology reports offer greater value and ease of use, including automatic importing of tables, measurements and key images. The solution can be deployed as Software as a Service (SaaS), offering hospitals the chance to implement this sophisticated imaging informatics solution according to their specific performance and cost objectives.

Enterprise Imaging for Cardiology: this solution integrates patient information from different sources into a centralized system so clinicians can quickly access their patient's complete cardiology file, generate a report, and distribute it in a single session - even from a remote location. This improved workflow lets your clinicians focus on patient care, procedures, and exams, and lets your department operate more efficiently and cost effectively. It is accomplished with state-of-the-art technology including virtualization, the latest in software deployment, user interface, and relevant tool sets. Enterprise Imaging for Cardiology is a key offering of Agfa HealthCare's Enterprise Imaging Suite.

DR 400: This flexible, affordable and scalable floor-mounted direct radiography (DR) solution is easy to install, takes little space and requires no expensive ceiling structure. At the same time, its adaptable configuration means it can be tailored to the specific needs of almost any hospital. No-nonsense, 'no-excuses' hardware provides reliability and maximum uptime, while the robust table, with floating table top and double touch foot switches, is user-friendly for both operator and patient.

DX-D 40: This wireless and cable-free digital detector with Automatic Exposure Detection (AED) offers a fast and easy way for radiography facilities to benefit from high-quality digital imaging using any X-ray equipment, and to cost-effectively upgrade film and computed radiography (CR) mobile X-ray units to DR. The DX-D 40 detector comes with a choice of Cesium Iodide (CsI) or Gadolinium Oxy-Sulphide (GOS) scintillators. CsI technology offers the potential for significant patient dose reduction.

Next generation MUSICA: Agfa HealthCare's 'gold-standard' MUSICA image processing software uses a multi-scale, layered representation of an image to enable precise control over many aspects of the image's 'look', improving the overall visibility of clinically relevant structures. The next generation MUSICA offers greater lung detail, improved contrast for difficult chest areas and for extremities - including overlapping bone structures -, a more homogenous presentation of all tissue, and more detailed and natural presentation of soft tissue.

HYDMEDIA: This enterprise content management (ECM) solution acts as a central repository for all clinical data, simplifying processes and enabling integrated care concepts. It enables hospitals and healthcare organizations of all sizes to archive their paper-based documentation electronically and make these available across the enterprise, significantly reducing storage space, retrieval time and related costs. Integrating with picture archiving and communication systems (PACS) and radiology information systems (RIS), it enables information from various healthcare players to converge into one structured database.

Broad range of proven solutions
Visitors to Arab Health can also see a broad range of Agfa HealthCare's existing solutions, each of which can play a key role in helping healthcare enterprises move towards the Future of Radiology, including:
IMPAX Business Intelligence: Data mining tools and real-time digital dashboards offer the insight to drive management decisions in radiology departments.
IMPAX Scheduling: A web-based enterprise scheduling and planning solution, designed to help hospitals and clinics of all sizes increase productivity by efficiently managing study orders, patient appointments and resources.
CR 15-X: Tabletop digitizer that replaces 'complicated' with 'smart', offering versatility and flexibility, and letting the users define and adapt their own workflows whenever they want, quickly and easily.
DX-D 100: Mobile direct radiography unit that delivers mobile imaging excellence, with instant high-quality image capture and immediate image validation, transfer and access, even by the bedside.
Dose reduction: Agfa HealthCare will demonstrate how it is focusing on patient dose reduction, including its Cesium Bromide (CsBr) and Cesium Iodide (CsI) needle-based detectors that deliver up to 60% dose reduction in both CR and DR. ***
Wireless detectors: The DX-D 30C and DX-D 35C digital wireless detectors offer general radiography facilities all the advantages of Direct Digital, while maximizing the use of their existing equipment.

Google Glass: How will wearables become part of patient image viewing? What are the future possibilities? Visit our booth to try them out and see how they might support patient identification, or allow 'hands-free' control of the Enterprise Imaging Viewer.
These solutions can be seen at Agfa HealthCare's booth #S1C20, Sheik Saeed Hall 1, at Arab Health 2014.

* HYDMedia is not available in the US

** XERO Viewer is not available in the US and Canada

*** Testing with board certified Radiologists has determined that Cesium Bromide (CR) and Cesium Iodide (DR) Detectors when used with MUSICA processing can provide dose reductions of between 50 to 60% when compared to traditional Barium Fluoro Bromide CR systems. Contact Agfa for more details.
