( ECR, Booth # 103, Hall Expo A ) Agfa HealthCare announces that it is launching its new Portal at ECR for Europe (March 4-8, Vienna, Austria) and for the USA and rest of the world in the course of 2015. The Agfa HealthCare Portal gives a patient-centric overview of patient information from different sources, to different stakeholders in the patient's care, whether inside or outside the hospital. It also provides a comprehensive road map running from the Portal itself, through to true integrated care.

Web-enabled framework for image and results delivery

The Portal is a web-enabled software platform that can be installed either at the hospital or healthcare enterprise premises, or that can be hosted by Agfa HealthCare for the hospital, with a service level agreement.

Providing a framework for image and result delivery, it supports an exchange of key information. Health information can be stored, retrieved and shared among patients, Care Delivery Organizations (CDOs) and players within a community, region, state, country and throughout the world.

By department or for the whole enterprise, the Portal can be integrated on top of Agfa HealthCare's enterprise imaging or health management systems such as ORBIS and and HYDMedia*. Vendor-neutral, it can also integrate third-party systems, to aggregate patient information that is available in any system. The Portal supports CCD (Continuity of Care Document) and CCR (Continuity of Care Record) standards.

Two views, with native mobile functionality

The Agfa HealthCare Portal offers two distinct views, depending on the user: the Patient View and the Care Provider View.

The Patient View allows patients to l ook at their own images, results and other aggregated information (e.g. lab); share them securely with another doctor to get a second opinion; give access to their results on the Portal to a caregiver; and upload information, for example from a wearable activity tracker or from a cd provided by another doctor.

The Care Provider View includes all of those functionalities, plus a viewing of lab results and support for a second opinion workflow.

The Portal can be accessed and used both from a desktop computer and via a mobile device. It includes native mobile interfaces for Google Android and Apple iPhone mobile digital devices. The user experience is adapted to the mobile device, but the functionality is the same.

Four phases to the EHR

"Agfa HealthCare's Portal is, in a way, a gateway to the EHR," says Joerg Schwarz, Global Business Development Director at Agfa HealthCare. "This first step already offers hospitals considerable cost savings and organizational advantages, such as reducing redundant testing. But it is also part of a broader vision and road map for the future."

Joost Felix, Enterprise Solution Manager at Agfa HealthCare adds: " The following phases will include integrating information from different sources, extracting and providing pertinent information and linking the hospital electronic medical record (EMR) with the wider community. In the final phase, it will support a true integrated care model that engages patients and all their caregivers, embeds care plans and workflow, and enables decision support and preventive care. It will thus allow all stakeholders to securely access and effectively use every bit of information, to help provide optimal patient care."

* HYDMedia is not available in the U.S.
