- Complimentary to Enterprise Imaging Suite, ECM enables the sharing of medical images and documents with existing clinical systems - The system, including consultancy and implementation services, can also be deployed standalone or in combination with the ECP-EHR/EMR to facilitate both clinical and administrative workflows - Already in use by more than 420 customers worldwide, Agfa's ECM is now available in the United States

(HIMSS16, Booth #2647) Agfa HealthCare's Enterprise Content Management (ECM) system and Enterprise Imaging platform will be on display at the HIMSS16 Annual Conference & Exhibition, March 1 - 3, 2016 in Las Vegas.

HIMSS16 marks one year since the launch of Agfa HealthCare's ECM system, which features improved workflow capabilities that facilitate the capture, archiving, access, and sharing of any type of data object, including paper files, forms, questionnaires, consents, insurance claims, etc., across the hospital enterprise. Customer implementation of the ECM has proven that the product is a key component in a comprehensive IT strategy that allows health systems to reduce or eliminate physical storage by digitally archiving medical documents within the EMR and administrative workflows.

Agfa HealthCare's ECM is designed as a unique solution bringing together generic content management, clinical content management, process management, long-term archiving, business and document management workflows, and specific functionalities, as well as a special design for the clinical environment. Its integrated scanning modules help organizations to be paperless by integrating existing paper documents in their IT environments. Due to its standards-based architecture for Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) environments and many interfaces - also designed especially for the medical environment - the Agfa HealthCare ECM system offers comprehensive interoperability with IT systems, including a wide range of clinical and administrative information systems. Also, thanks to its compliance to IHE-XDS framework, the Agfa HealthCare ECM system can be integrated in large and complex environments.

Agfa's ECM system supports the organization's Enterprise Imaging continuity of care approach by enabling the sharing of full medical images and documents with existing clinical and administrative systems to help enable a clinically rich 'visual healthcare infographic' of each patient. The ECM allows the care facility to realize multiple benefits, including reduced physical archiving space, easy web-based information retrieval across the enterprise providing continuity of care, and reduced risk of patient information being lost or destroyed. The ECM will centralize, guide and display even the most complex administrative documentation processes under data protection in and outside healthcare enterprises.

Bill Corsten, Regional President, NA, Agfa Healthcare, stated, 'Agfa's Enterprise Content Management system is key within our commitment to providing enterprise-wide, care-centric solutions. Even with the rise of EMRs, many health systems still have large amounts of paper-based patient information and documents that are essential to ongoing care, but are difficult for care providers to access when they are needed most. Similar to our philosophy that all information needs to be archived and accessible within the EMR and in all administrative processes, we contend that all clinical and business content must also be readily available in the EMR in order for quality care to be delivered.'
