Community groups in Edithburgh on South Australia's Yorke Peninsula today received a share of $15,000 available from AGL Energy Limited's (AGL) 2016 Wattle Point Wind Farm Community Fund Program.

Three community groups were successful recipients of the program's second round of funding at a morning tea celebration held at the Wattle Point Wind Farm Operations Centre.

AGL Renewables Manager, Simon Kelley, said making a positive contribution in the local communities in which it operates is a priority for AGL.

'We are really pleased to be able to contribute to the local community. This round we've awarded funds to community initiatives across a range of areas including, heritage, sport, community and senior citizen groups. We know the money is going to help worthwhile local projects,' Mr Kelley said.

The successful recipients included the Edithburgh Progress Association ($5000 to make improvements to the Edithburgh tidal pool), the York Town RSL and Sports Club ($5000 to upgrade electrical wiring and plumbing at the canteen), and the Edithburgh Museum ($5000 to improve and extend their outdoor display area).

The morning tea was attended by Yorke Peninsula Council representatives, members of the local community, AGL representatives, and AGL Wattle Point Wind Farm Operations Team, Vestas.

A total of 11 applications were reviewed by the fund's independent panel. AGl encourages other community groups to apply for the next round of funding which is expected to open for submissions in early 2017.
