AGL Energy Limited (AGL) will be introducing the Silverton Wind Farm EPC contractor, GE-CATCON to the community consultative committee (CCC) on Thursday, 30 March 2017 and providing an update on construction planning for the 200 MW wind farm.

AGL's Silverton Wind Farm Project Manager said the CCC meeting follows the successful industry briefing sessions held in late January at both Silverton and Broken Hill.

'At the CCC meeting we will be providing an update on planned site mobilisation and construction commencement. Additionally, we'll have information about employment opportunities.

'We encourage the local community to come along and hear how the project is progressing and ask any questions of the AGL and GE-CATCON representatives,' Mr Adam Mackett said.

The CCC meeting will be held from 6-8pm at the Silverton Municipal Chambers, Silverton Road, Silverton.

The wind farm will produce approximately 780,000 MWh of renewable energy annually, which can power more than 137,000 average Australian homes. The renewable energy produced from the wind farm's 58 turbines will reduce CO2 emissions by 655,000 tonnes annually, which is the equivalent of taking 192,000 cars off the road each year.
