In January - July, 2014 the EU purchased 87.93 m tonnes of raw natural milk, i.e. by 5.4 per cent more than in the corresponding period a year ago. In January - July, 2014 the largest increase of amounts of raw natural milk were noticed inRomania (14.9 per cent to 601.20 thousand tonnes), whenGreece andSpain showed the largest decrease (4.8 per cent down to 378.90 thousand tonnes), (1.5 per cent down to 3.52 m tonnes).

In January - July, 2014 the average raw natural milk procurement price in the EU amounted for 133.25 Lt/100 kg - by 11.2 per cent more than in the corresponding period of 2013. The major increase was noticed inDenmark(19.5 per cent to 150.63 Lt/100 kg) andSlovenia(16.4 per cent to 124.60 Lt/100 kg), when the largest decrease was noticed inMalta(13.2 per cent to 159.64 Lt/100 kg) andCyprus(1.7 per cent to 195.00 Lt/100 kg).

In the analyzed period the highest procurement price in terms of the EU-28 was noticedCyprus, when the lowest - inRomania(106.69 Lt/100 kg).

In the analyzed period the highest procurement price for raw natural milk inLithuaniawas in February (127.78 Lt/100 kg). It was higher than inPortugal,Bulgaria,Slovakia,Poland,Hungary,Latvia, Czech andRomania. However, the next months showed a decrease of the price and in May - July it was the lowest, compared to the said price in other EU countries.
