AIR CHINA LIMITED ANNOUNCEMENT ON KEY OPERATING DATA OF OCTOBER 2016In October 2016, Air China Limited (the "Company"), and its subsidiaries (the "Group") recorded an increase in combined passenger traffic (measured by revenue passenger kilometers ("RPK")) as compared to the same period last year and to the last month. Compared to the same period last year, passenger capacity (measured by available seat kilometers ("ASK")) increased by 6.1%, and passenger traffic increased by 8.0%. For domestic routes, passenger capacity and passenger traffic increased by 6.9% and 8.8%, respectively, as compared to the same period last year. For international routes, passenger capacity and passenger traffic increased by 7.0% and 8.9%, respectively, as compared to the same period last year. Passenger capacity on regional routes decreased by 11.6%, and passenger traffic saw a decline of 11.0%, as compared to the same period last year. The overall passenger load factor was 81.4%, an increase of 1.4 percentage points compared to the same period last year. The passenger load factor for domestic, international and regional grew by 1.5 percentage points, 1.3 percentage points and 0.5 percentage point, respectively.
On 30 October 2016, the Company launched a Beijing-Ulanqab route (four times a week), a Chengdu- Zhengzhou-Ulanqab route (three times a week), a Chengdu-Zhengzhou-Dongying route (four times a week), a Hangzhou-Zhengzhou-Ulanqab route (four times a week), a Hangzhou-Yantai-Daqing route (three times a week), a Chongqing-Yuncheng-Shenyang route (four times a week), a Guiyang-Wuhan route (seven times a week), and a Hohhot-Tongliao route (seven times a week). On 31 October 2016, the company launched a Tianjin-Shiyan route (four times a week) and a Linfen-Wuhan route (three times a week).
In terms of cargo operations, in October 2016, cargo and mail traffic (measured by Revenue Freight Tonne Kilometres ("RFTK")) increased as compared to the same period last year and to the last month, but the freight tonnage recorded a slight decrease as compared to the last month. Cargo capacity (measured by available freight tonne kilometers ("AFTK")) rose by 2.6% year-on-year. Cargo and mail traffic increased by 9.4% and volume of cargo and mail uplifted grew by 9.5% as compared to the same period last year. The cargo load factor was 55.8%, representing a year-on-year increase of
3.5 percentage points.
In October 2016, the Group added three aircraft in total, including one B737-800, one B787-9 and one A320. As at the end of October 2016, the Group operated a fleet of 616 aircraft.
