AIR LIQUIDE : Fire At Chemical Plant In Louisiana Triggers Evacuation-State

A fire at a chemical facility near Baton Rouge, La., and owned by French industrial gases group L'Air Liquide SA (AI.FR) has triggered an evacuation, the Louisiana Governor's Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness said Monday.
The incident took place in Winterville, La. The West Baton Rouge Parish has declared a state of emergency, state officials said in a release.
About 40 homes in a one-mile radius have been evacuated and shelters were set up at nearby community centers. A highway, the U.S. 190, will remain closed "for an undetermined amount of time to ensure public safety," officials said.
