Advocates Innovation and Operational Excellence to Support Province's New Takeoff

Air Products (NYSE: APD) today announced the appointment of its Industrial Gases China President Saw Choon Seong by the People's Government of Shaanxi Province as International Senior Economic Consultant. Saw received the Letter of Appointment at the Eighth Session of the International Senior Economic Consultative Conference of the People's Government of Shaanxi Province in Xi'an city on June 25, 2015.

At the conference, Saw shared his insights in how Shaanxi can draw on Air Products' innovation and safety expertise to thrive on the process of reform and opening up under the "One Belt One Road" Strategy.

"Shaanxi indeed has historic roles to play. It is the new starting point of the Silk Road Economic Belt; a strategic highland for development and opening of inland economy; and also a strategic powerhouse for Western Development," Saw said. "Air Products is committed to leveraging our global position, including the leading position in many countries on the Silk Road Economic Belt to support Shaanxi's new kickoff with focuses on the environment, productivity and quality."

Under the theme "Fueling Shaanxi's Transformation into a Strategic Highland for Reform and Opening Up on the Silk Road through Innovation and Operational Excellence," Saw explained how innovation and operational excellence can help the traditional energy and chemical sectors achieve sustainable growth, and ultimately enable the province to transform into a high-end manufacturing base for these industries. He also highlighted the importance of world-class safety standard when operating large-scale projects and developing industrial parks. Wrapping up, Saw emphasized Air Products' continued commitment and support to Shaanxi.

The People's Government of Shaanxi Province established the international consultative program in 2001 to enlist the aid of senior executives from Fortune 500 companies in formulating its economic development policies. Members meet formally every two years, and are consulted regularly on global economic and technological trends, international best business practices, and exchange programs to help the province attract foreign investment and grow.

Air Products first entered Shaanxi in 2006 to serve the electronics industry.
