LEHIGH VALLEY, Pa., Jan. 9, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Air Products (NYSE:APD) will present a free webinar that discusses a technology for controlling the emission of volatile organic compounds (VOCs). The technique, cryogenic condensation, uses the low-temperature and refrigeration properties of liquid nitrogen to condense out gaseous VOCs from vent streams before they can escape into the atmosphere. This pollution control technology helps companies meet emission standards by achieving nearly 100 percent solvent recovery while also bringing operational advantages to their production processes.

Air Products' Oscar Beteta, cryogenic applications engineer, will explain how liquid nitrogen has helped companies control emissions of VOCs for well over 30 years. The webinar will cover the principle of condensation, which is the driving mechanism for controlling this process; how liquid nitrogen is incorporated into the condensation process; and the benefits and challenges of using this technique.

In addition, Beteta will introduce Air Products' proprietary Cryo-Condap(®) technology for recovering solvents, which essentially employs a semi-indirect method of heat transfer using a buffering fluid to optimize temperature control and avoid freezing issues. Working in collaboration with Herco Kühltechnik GmbH, a German company specializing in cryogenic refrigeration equipment, the company has developed sizing and modeling software for the complex analysis needed to custom-design systems that minimize nitrogen consumption and maximize energy efficiency. Over the last 25 years, Air Products' Cryo-Condap technology has been applied across a diverse range of industries with more than 150 systems installed worldwide.

To join the free webinar, "Controlling VOC Emissions with Liquid Nitrogen," on February 4 from 2:00-3:00 p.m. (EST), register at www.airproducts.com/VOCwebinar. For more information about Air Products' Cryo-Condap technology, call 800-654-4567 (mention code 4899) or email gigmrktg@airproducts.com.
