Airbus Group will have a major presence at the FAM Airshow 2015, being held at the Mexican Air Force Base Aérea Militar No. 1 Santa Lucía, close to Mexico City from 22 April to 25 April. The Group will also demonstrate its strong support for the development of Mexico's aerospace and defence industry at the show.

Together with its Defence and Space and Helicopters Divisions, Airbus Group will showcase a broad selection of cutting-edge products, technologies and services. Airbus Group is committed to its long standing partnership with Mexico and investments in the country.

Airbus Group supports Mexico's development through state-of-the-art aerospace and defence products, as well as in humanitarian assistance and disaster relief, achieved in cooperation with the country's civil and military authorities. Notably, at the Show will be aircraft of Airbus Helicopters and Airbus Defence and Space, as well as Earth observation satellite systems. "Mexico is among the most strategic countries worldwide for the Group, and the country's favourable industrial policies and skilled labour force are important for maintaining and increasing the company's presence there," said Frederic Garcia, President of Airbus Group in Mexico. "According to our projections, the global aerospace procurement market is expected to increase substantially over the next 20 years and Mexico could become one of the most important countries in this sector given the skills base and structural reforms made in recent years."

Additionally, Mexico has the largest C295 fleet in Latin America. The Mexican Navy (Semar) has become the launch customer of the latest version of the market-leading Airbus C295 medium transport aircraft - the new C295W equipped with winglets.

While the Airbus Helicopters plant in the State of Querétaro is the best example of direct investment in Mexico by Airbus Group, interests also span civil aircraft, military transport aircraft, security and surveillance solutions, as well as space and satellite systems. Airbus Helicopters is the market leader for helicopters and is currently the only manufacturer with maintenance and industrial sites in the country, with more than 40% of the market share in Mexico. The military sector holds great potential and Airbus Helicopters has successfully secured some important contracts in the country, including the supply of 15 H225M to the Mexican Armed Forces, and recently ten Panther AS565 MB to the Mexican Navy. During a recent demo tour, Airbus Helicopters showcased the H175, a new generation helicopter which addresses the needs of the promising Mexican Oil & Gas industry.

Airbus Helicopters also participates in the training of personnel through Heliescuela in the State of Veracruz, the engine Training Centre in Mexico City and has several agreements with education institutions such as the Aeronautics University of Querétaro, Instituto Politécnico Nacional and CONALEP.

Currently, Airbus Group has more than 1,400 employees in Latin America located at seventeen sites across seven countries (Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, El Salvador, Mexico and Peru). In Mexico alone, the company employs nearly 400 people.
