AKZO NOBEL : CEO Absent for Medical Reasons; Shares Fall

*DJ Akzo Nobel Shares Trade -3.8% After CEO's Temporary Absence Announcement
AMSTERDAM -- Akzo Nobel NV (AKZA.AE) Chief Executive Ton Buechner is taking temporary leave as a result of a medical condition, Akzo Nobel said Tuesday. Buechner has been diagnosed with temporary fatigue, the company said.
Akzo Nobel expects Buechner to return to work in the first half of October. In the meantime, Chief Financial Officer Keith Nichols will oversee the company's operations.
The company will publish its third-quarter results Oct. 18 as planned. The investor meeting that was planned for Oct. 22 is postponed until further notice, Akzo Nobel said.
