Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris and NYSE: ALU) today announced that Thailand's Symphony Communication is using Alcatel-Lucent's Agile Optical Networking portfolio to increase network speed and capacity and support its launch of ultra-broadband services.

Alcatel-Lucent in Thailand is working with Teo Hong Silom under the company's Global Partner Program to supply its industry-leading WDM (wavelength division multiplexing) solution, comprising the 1830 Photonic Service Switch (PSS) platform and the 1350 Optical Management System. This will transform Symphony Communication's core network to have capacity of up to 100 gigabits-per-second (100G) and optimizing network performance. Symphony Communication will also be able to take advantage of cost-efficiencies and launch compelling new services as a result of the agility and capacity created by the Alcatel-Lucent technology.

Symphony Communication, one of the leading national telecommunications infrastructure providers in Thailand, supports the high-speed, high-bandwidth requirements of enterprises and service providers. It provides Internet gateway services and international privately-leased circuit services, enabling multinational organizations to connect with other countries. Deployment of 100G will allow the company to meet its customers' current and anticipated demands for voice, data, video and cloud services.

Alcatel-Lucent's deployment with Symphony Communication supports the Thai government's National Broadband Network initiative. The project is scheduled for completion during the fourth quarter of 2014.
