Altech Multimedia (Pty) Ltd, a leading provider of products, professional services and competitive solutions to the digital broadcast and broadband industries, and a group member of Altron TMT, was the winner of two prestigious Business Awards at the annual Technology Top 100 event held at the CSIR Convention Centre, on 2 February 2015.

The TT100 Awards are an annual event hosted by the Da Vinci Institute for the Management of Technology and Innovation under the auspices of the Department of Science and Technology and are recognised as the premier business excellence awards in South Africa and a celebration of South African innovation.

Altech Multimedia received the Award for Excellence in the Management of Innovation by focusing on technology trends and improving productivity, functionality and market exploration in respect of the design, development and commercialisation of the end-to-end Altech N0de Eco System.

Altech Multimedia also received the Award for Excellence in the Management of Systems for new processes, products and systems required to manufacture competitive products. This involved the systematic integration of all organisational activities to improve performance and solve unique problems in an ICT industry where highly competitive products are entering the local market.

In addition to the Altech Multimedia awards, Altron TMT, which comprises of the Altech (including Altech Multimedia) and Bytes Technology Group businesses, won the TT100 Award for Excellence in Strategy. This award recognises the role of holding companies and the extent to which they are able to positively influence their subsidiaries. Altron TMT received special recognition for demonstrating the core competencies required to play a leading role in the strategic success and achievements of its subsidiaries.

According to Dr Willie Oosthuysen, Altron Group Executive: Strategy and Technology, the Excellence in Strategy Award exemplifies the Group's strategic imperatives, and is a demonstrable consequence of the successful integration of the Altech and Bytes companies under the Altron TMT banner.

"We thank the organisers for recognising Altron TMT as having achieved excellence in competitive strategy, and delivering strong returns to shareholders in the face of adversities such as economic volatility and uncertainty, and a highly competitive ICT sector," Oosthuysen said.

The TT100 National Business Awards were launched in 1991 to recognise and honour the top performers of the year in both business and industry, for individuals, companies and government and have been expanded to include technologies from Brazil, Russia, China and South Africa (BRICS).
