NORTHBROOK, Ill. - May 22, 2017 - To celebrate Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month, Allstate Insurance Company is launching a new resource that encourages riders to join forces in its mission to help prevent motorcycle crashes at dangerous intersections.

Since 2009, Allstate has installed 180 'Watch for Motorcycles' signs in 42 cities across 21 states through its Once is Never Enough (O.N.E.) program. This year for the first time, the insurance company is enlisting the help of those on the front lines - the riders - to increase the number of sign installations. Launching today, the Allstate O.N.E. Sign Guide is a resource for the riding community and those who want to see more 'Watch for Motorcycles' signs on the road to make the roads safer for both riders and drivers alike.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), 46 percent of all multi-vehicle crashes occur at intersections, oftentimes as a result of a vehicle turning left, impeding the motorcyclist's right-of-way. Based on data obtained from the NHTSA, three motorcyclists are killed in multi-vehicle crashes at intersections each day. With the help of the riding community, Allstate wants to help bring that number down.

'For more than 50 years, Allstate has worked to keep riders safe by taking proactive measures like the O.N.E. program to protect the motorcycle community that it has become so deeply invested in,' said Georgina Flores, VP of Product Marketing at Allstate. 'By providing the riding community with a resource like the Allstate O.N.E. Sign Guide, we hope that riders will join us in our pursuit of safety and that more signs will be installed at dangerous intersections across the country.'

The O.N.E. Sign Guide will provide riders with information on everything from how to determine which entity owns the intersection in question, to information on the sign design and specs. Riders will also be able to track where signs have already been installed and view tips on how to get their community involved.
