MALVERN, Penn., Feb. 13, 2017 - Maine residents who use their personal vehicle to drive for a Transportation Network Company (TNC) now have an additional insurance option: Allstate Ride for Hire. This new, optional endorsement can help cover some of the gaps that may arise in a driver's auto insurance coverage when using their insured vehicle to drive for a TNC. Allstate Ride for Hire can provide Allstate customers valuable protection when they have their TNC app turned on and are awaiting a passenger assignment from the TNC.

Allstate expects that, on average, a customer will pay roughly $15-$20 each year to add this optional coverage.

'For many Maine residents, ride-sharing services have become a part of everyday life,' Amy Alward, South Portland Allstate agency owner. 'Allstate Ride for Hire is another way that Allstate is demonstrating a commitment to designing new products that help meet the evolving needs of our customers.'

Allstate Ride for Hire launched in 2015; and today, in the states where it is available, more than 60 percent of Allstate auto customers who indicate that they drive for a TNC and purchase auto insurance from an Allstate company offering Allstate Ride for Hire purchase the endorsement.[i] By the end of the month, Allstate anticipates having a Ride for Hire endorsement available in 28 states.

'We listened to our customers and we are now delivering an innovative solution that evolves our auto insurance product with today's trends and does it at a price many drivers will be comfortable paying,' Allstate Product Vice President Geoff Williams says. 'Our goal is to provide our customers with a product that helps meet their unique needs and helps them best use their hard-earned money to protect what matters most.'

Customers in Maine who drive for a TNC should contact their local Allstate agent or representative to learn more about Allstate Ride for Hire. Or visit www.allstate.com/rideforhire for more information.
