Alro : supports people in distress from Olt and Tulcea through partnership programs with the National Red Cross

Slatina, August 30, 2017 - Alro S.A. (BVB: ALR, 'Company' or 'Alro'), the largest aluminum producer in continental Europe (excluding Russia and the Scandinavian Peninsula), has carried out a series of projects to support the local community in Olt and Tulcea in partnership with the National Red Cross. In Slatina, the Company supported the installation of first-aid facilities during the torrid period and was financially involved in programs such as 'We help grandparents smile' and 'With my grandparents to the dentist', which provides dentures for the people in the centers for the protection of elderly people in the counties of Olt and Tulcea.

'Alro is constantly involved in activities aimed at supporting the local community in the counties where the Company has operations,'said Gheorghe Dobra, Alro's General Manager. 'In addition to investing in production operations, our long-term strategy also aims at developing the regions in which we operate, through cultural, educational and social activities. We invest in schooling students from Olt and Tulcea, in health projects and in programmes aimed at improving the quality of life of social categories in difficulty. This is the reason why we have developed a partnership with the Red Cross, joining our programmes in the counties where we operate'.

The aluminum producer also contributed to numerous actions to support the local community in 2017, either by donating firewood during the winter, for needy families in Olt County or by donating medical equipment to hospitals.

In addition to the social projects, Alro contributes, annually, to numerous actions to support the local community. The Company has concluded partnerships with high schools, post-secondary schools and Universities (Slatina Metalurgical Technical College, Ion Maiorescu College, Ion Graure Secondary School, Polytechnic University of Bucharest, Transilvania University of Brasov, University of Craiova etc.) to facilitate the practice for students, to carry out yearly bachelor, master, doctoral research, or vocational training classes in schools in occupations of interest to Alro.

In addition, Alum has had a series of voluntary fundraising actions for Easter and Christmas gifts for assisted persons, from the 'St. Nectarie' Center in Tulcea, for children from the Cristian Placement Center and Speranta Placement Center.
