Alstom confirms its nuclear maintenance know-how in Finland

Alstom has signed a frame agreement for long-term service with Teollisuuden Voima Oyj (TVO) for five-year maintenance of turbine island and process equipment on nuclear island at Olkiluoto nuclear power plant in Finland. The multi-year service agreement is an extension of earlier agreements successfully in place since 2000.

Under this contract, Alstom will carry out year-by-year pre-defined service outage works on turbines, generators and their auxiliary systems and also process valves and control rods on nuclear island at Olkiluoto 1 and Olkiluoto 2, including engineering, consulting, project management and continuous on-site support. The work will be conducted by Alstom Finland in close collaboration with Alstom Sweden.

"I am delighted that Alstom has been selected to continue services at Olkiluoto nuclear power plant in Finland. This success has been enabled thanks to long-term relationship and technology competence of both TVO and Alstom. We can continuously improve and benefit from our high standards in safety and long experience of working in nuclear power plants", says Kari Rahkonen, Managing Director for Thermal Services business unit at Alstom Finland.

"We chose to continue with Alstom on the maintenance of the turbines and generators because of the good cooperation experience and flexibility of Alstom to respond on a short notice to our needs," says Mikko Kosonen, Senior Vice President, Production at TVO.

With over 50 years' experience, Alstom is the world leader in services for conventional islands, with over 265 nuclear cylinders retrofitted and more than 35% on third party fleets.
