ALSTOM
International engineering company Alstom has started its search for its next intake of graduates and apprentices to work in its energy and transport divisions.
The company, which has 30 sites and a 6,000-strong workforce in the UK, is looking for 20 apprentices and 11 graduates for its Power business, two graduates for its Renewables arm, six apprentices and five graduates for its Grid division and 10 apprentices and ten graduates for its Transport activities.
While the roles are spread across Alstom's activities across the country, of the 36 apprentices and 26 graduates, it is looking for six graduates and six apprentices in Stafford (in its Grid and Power businesses) and for five graduates and two apprentices in Rugby, working across Power and Renewables. Alstom is also looking for 15 apprentices to work in its Power business in the North East. The Transport roles will be based in London, the Midlands and the North West, with locations yet to be determined.
Terence Watson, Alstom's UK President, said: "It seems to be a widely held belief that the UK doesn't 'do' engineering any more but that just isn't the case. Here at Alstom we're involved in some of the biggest engineering projects in Europe, such as Crossrail, as well as in projects taking electricity across thousands of miles in India, and in making sure that millions of commuters get home every day and that the country's lights stay on. I really would urge anyone who wants to work for an engineering company to take a look at what we've got to offer."
