An Agreement has been signed for the implementation of a project to upgrade and expand the technical facilities at the Esibonelwesihle Secondary School which will be funded by the Alstom Foundation.

The signing took place on 7th August, in the presence of Yvan Eriau, Managing Director of Alstom Southern Africa and CEO of Alstom Ubunye; Kamohelo Paulina Motloung, principal of Esibonelweshile Secondary School; and Vincent Decoudier, representative from Electriciens Sans Frontières, a non- governmental organisation and the Department of Education Mr. Poovan Chetty (not present at the signing).

As part of the agreement - which follows extensive engagement between the parties - the Alstom Foundation will fund a mechanical technology and engineering graphic and design curriculum, combined with practical component, at the school for learners in Grades 10 to 12.

The school will be equipped with the tools and equipment necessary to allow extensive, high-quality training to be given in welding.

Yvan Eriau, is fully supportive of this initiative: 'We want to help grow the Duduza community and help it use the talent, it has, in order to create more job opportunities.'
