Aluminium Bahrain B.S.C. (Alba) remains positioned as a regional champion in occupational health, workplace safety and environmental management as the company received the Gulf Aluminium Council (GAC)'s maiden Health & Safety and Environmental Awards.

The awards were announced during the 16th Arab International Aluminium Conference (Arabal 2012), which was held at the Grand Hyatt Doha, Qatar in November, 2012. A committee consisting of senior officials from GAC, the International Aluminium Institute and Ma'aden reviewed proposals submitted for the awards.

Commenting on the GAC awards, Alba's Chief Executive, Tim Murray said:

"It is always a pleasure to be recognised for the work we do in ensuring workplace safety, commitment to occupational health and adherence to environmental regulations. These measures have been taken not only to comply with best industry practise but more importantly to ensure a safe working environment for our employees and that the plant emits a positive impact for the wider community in Bahrain."

The GAC awards were established to recognise excellence and leadership in health & safety and environmental management as well as acknowledge the outstanding contribution companies like Alba have made in balancing their responsibilities with the success
