Aluminium Bahrain B.S.C. (Alba) Labour Union in cooperation with Management, in a gesture that revealed its 'one family' culture, raised funds to purchase a home for the family of its deceased Bahraini employee Redha Ghuloom Mohammed.

Alba's Chief Executive Officer, Tim Murray and Chairman of Alba Labour Union, Ali Al Binali handed over the ownership papers and keys of the new house to Redha Ghuloom's son on Thursday, September 25, 2014 at Alba Labour Union Hall. The ceremony was attended by Chairman of Bahrain Free Labour Unions Federation (Al Hurr) Yaqoub Yousif Mohammed and Alba management members and employees, who showed up in large numbers to demonstrate their support for this noble cause.

Redha Ghuloom Mohammed, an employee of Alba for the last two decades and the sole breadwinner of his family, passed away due to a cardiac arrest in his home five months ago.

The fund raising campaign, which was launched by Alba Labour Union immediately after Redha Ghuloom's death, witnessed employees contributing from their salary to raise BD 70,000. Alba Management too contributed an additional sum of BD 30,000, which allowed for the purchase of a BD 100,000 house in a residential locality of Bahrain.

Commenting on this occasion, Alba's Chief Executive Officer, Tim Murray said:

"The heart of Alba lies in its employees; we work together as a single family. Employee support for the fund raising campaign of Redha Ghuloom's family was remarkable and a shining example of the family spirit shared by the Alba workforce. We are truly grateful to our employees, Bahrainis and expatriates alike, who joined hands in the true spirit of kinship and came together to support Redha Ghuloom's family, thus securing their future."

Adding further, Chairman of Alba Labour Union, Ali Al Binali said:

"The death of Redha Ghuloom saddened us all and our deepest condolences are with his family. We try our best to provide for the employees but in some cases the support falls short. During this situation, Alba employees opened their hearts and came together to provide for the grieving family of Redha Ghuloom by raising funds and purchasing them a home."
