Aluminium Bahrain B.S.C. (Alba), a flagship company of Bahrain, and one of the world's leading aluminium producers re-launched its Code of Conduct as well as its confidential reporting system, 'Integrity Line' on Monday, May 04, 2015 at the Oasis Hall.

The launch programme, attended by Alba's Chairman of Board of Directors, Shaikh Daij bin Salman bin Daij Al Khalifa, Executive Management and Managers, included speeches, a training video and presentation, and quizzes.

Alba was one of the foremost companies in the Region to launch its own Code of Conduct and confidential reporting system in 2011. The updated Code of Conduct was developed with revised inputs from all departments and will be rolled out through a company-wide communication and training plan in the coming weeks under the theme 'Shining a light on Integrity'.

Speaking at the event, Alba's Chairman Shaikh Daij bin Salman bin Daij Al Khalifa said:

"We are all proud of Alba's national and international reputation as one of the leading aluminium smelters, ranking amongst the top performers in the world. This is due to the continuous support from the Government, our customers, investors and stakeholders, and the local community.

We believe in leading by example, and thus, we ensure that everyone - Members of Board of Directors, Executive Management and all employees as well as business partners - maintain the highest ethical standards and comply with Company's regulations, laws of the Kingdom of Bahrain and recognised international business standards."

Alba's CEO Tim Murray added:

"Great companies are built on trust. For Alba to continue on its successful journey, we need to maintain the trust and confidence of our employees, customers, partners, investors, and the society. The re-launch of the Code of Conduct is in line with Alba's dedication to strengthen its sound corporate governance, transparency, and institute best practices within the Company."

Murray encouraged employees to raise concerns through the channels provided, and assured them that Alba will not tolerate retaliation against those who raise concerns with honest intentions.

Alba's Chief Internal Auditor and Risk Officer, Bryan Harris, who oversaw the re-launch added: 'Alba's Code of Conduct was developed with inputs from all departments, representing a diverse cross-section of nationalities, genders, religions, ages and organisational levels. It enshrines our shared beliefs in the basic principles of honesty, fairness, integrity and respect for people, and guides us in promoting trust, openness, professionalism and social responsibility in all our actions'.
