Aluminium Bahrain BSCC : Alba Concludes the 2016 Ramadan Sports Season

Aluminium Bahrain B.S.C. (Alba), the leading Bahrain-based Aluminium producer, concluded the 2016 Ramadan Sports Season, the highly anticipated sporting event, with an awarding ceremony on Wednesday June 22, 2016 at Alba Club.

This year's Ramadan Sports Season span over 20 days of fun-filled, friendly competitions between various departments in four main sporting categories: Football, Basketball, Billiards and Badminton with the aim of providing employees with a unique opportunity to bond in a relaxing and healthy atmosphere.

The closing ceremony included final matches for the Football and Basketball tournaments where Line 4 & 5 Team was crowned as the champion of the Football Tournament after defeating Cast House Team (1-0) in a very exciting match. In the Basketball Tournament, the COO Team defeated Alba Labour Union Team (79 - 62) to claim the title after a tightly contested, fast-paced match that showcased the talents of both teams and the intense sportsmanship.

Winning team captains, players, organizers and volunteers were awarded by Alba's Chief Executive Officer Tim Murray in the presence of the Executive Management team, Directors, Managers, Alba Labour Union Representatives as well as employees and supporters.

Speaking on this occasion, Alba's Chief Executive Officer, Tim Murray remarked:

'We at Alba, believe in the importance of maintaining a close, one-family atmosphere that extend beyond of the boundaries of the workplace and the Holy Month of Ramadan is the perfect opportunity to bank on this philosophy and show our support to all the teams and participants. We hope that this positive energy will be translated into more synergy and alignment at Alba and enable us to meet, if not exceed our upcoming goals and expectations.'

This year's Ramadan Sports Tournament featured more than 30 teams representing a cross section of all departments. The Basketball challenge for men featured 10 teams from across the company divided into two groups, while Football featured 19 teams divided into four groups.
