Yahoo Inc. (>> Yahoo! Inc.) named Kathy Savitt as its new chief marketing officer, replacing Mollie Spilman, who was named to the position only three months ago.

Savitt, who will take over all worldwide marketing and branding for the struggling Internet company on Sept. 14, was most recently founder and chief executive of Lockerz, a Seattle-based social-networking and e-commerce website. Before then, she was chief marketing officer of American Eagle Outfitters Inc. (>> American Eagle Outfitters) and had leadership roles at Amazon.com Inc. (>> Amazon.com, Inc.).

Spilman, who had previously run Yahoo's Americas marketing for the previous two years, was given the chief marketing officer position in May by interim Chief Executive Ross Levinsohn. Last month, Levinsohn was overlooked for the permanent CEO job, as Yahoo instead hired Google Inc. (>> Google Inc) executive Marissa Mayer for the position; Levinsohn soon after left the company.

The latest executive announcement is among a series of top-level personnel changes Yahoo has seen since Mayer was named CEO. Earlier this month, David Windley, the head of human resources, left the company, and Wayne Powers, who had been running U.S. sales, departed soon after.

Last month, Yahoo said its second-quarter income shrank as it saw restructuring charges weigh down its results, though contributions from its Asian assets continued to grow.

Shares closed Monday at $14.85 and were unchanged after hours. The stock is down 7.9% so far this year.
