NEW YORK, NY - October 31, 2014 - AMC Networks today announced the appointment of Mike Moriarty as Managing Director, AMC Networks International - Zone, expanding on his current role as Managing Director of the company's Central Europe operations and DMC, an advanced digital media and technology facility.

Dermot Shortt, formerly head of AMC Networks International - Zone, has stepped down and will continue to work with the company as a consultant, advising on various business activities.

Moriarty will be based in the company's London office and will continue to report to Ed Carroll, AMC Networks Chief Operating Officer. Eduardo Zulueta, Managing Director of the company's Iberia and Latin America operations, and Bruce Tuchman, President of AMC and Sundance Channel Global, and the company's Asia-Pacific operations, will also continue to report to Carroll.

Based in London, AMC Networks International - Zone includes a portfolio of 13 channel brands including Horror Channel (in Italy), Extreme Sports Channel, Extreme Sports Channel HD, MGM and preschool channel JimJam. AMC Networks International also operates a number of joint venture, partnership and managed channel services in the EMEA region, including Outdoor Channel, and Polsat Jim Jam, as well as a portfolio of 7 entertainment channels across 13 EMEA feeds with CBS Studios, including CBS Drama, CBS Action, CBS Reality, CBS Europa and Horror Channel.

Moriarty has been Managing Director of the company's Central Europe operations since 2006, adding responsibility for the DMC in 2012. Prior to joining Chellomedia (which was renamed "AMC Networks International" following AMC Networks' purchase earlier this year), Moriarty spent more than a decade at UPC, where he held multiple roles, including Managing Director of Investments and Corporate Development, CEO of the company's Hungarian operations, and Managing Director of UPC Slovakia and Romania. He received his MBA from the University of Pittsburgh and is a graduate of Villanova University.
