June 22--PLAYER OF THE YEAR -- Josie Foreman, Oxbridge Academy, So., Catcher

Why?

She helped lead the ThunderWolves to their second consecutive berth in the state tournament, batting .558 with 40 RBIs, four homers and 16 doubles. She also finished with a .993 fielding percentage.

What was the highlight of your season? When we were playing Bishop Verot (in the regional finals), and in the bottom of the sixth they scored three to make the score 4-3. In the top of the sixth I was leadoff batter, and the first pitch of my at-bat I hit one of the farthest home runs I have ever hit.

When did you first start playing softball? When I was four years old. I started in what was called Rising Stars, but when I was five I moved to Coach Pitch.

What are your college plans? I plan on attending the University of South Florida. As of now I don't know what I want to study, but I do know that I want to study something in the field of science, which was another huge reason I chose USF. I am also super excited about going to USF, even though I still have two more years. I love everything about it, and the coaches are amazing.

Who is the athlete you most admire? (First baseman) Shay Knighten at Oklahoma, because she is just a complete stud and plays with so much heart. She always comes through when her team needs her the most.

What is the song that gets you pumped up before a game? Even though it changes quite often, the song that got me pumped up before games this past season is "The Middle" by Zedd.

What was your favorite movie of the past year?

Pitch Perfect 3.

What is your favorite social media tool? Hands down, Twitter.
