CALIFORNIA AMERICAN WATER TO CONTINUE FUNDING TURF REBATES FOR ITS VENTURA COUNTY CUSTOMERS

Company invests in additional conservation measures to assist customers as the

Metropolitan Water District of Southern California suspends its turf replacement rebates

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. (July 29, 2015) - California American Water announced today it would assist customers in Thousand Oaks interested in turf replacement rebates after the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California announced it was suspending its turf rebate program. California American Water will continue to offer turf rebates to its customers to reduce water use and help comply with the State Water Resources Control Board water reduction targets.

"Turf rebates are very popular with our customers," Rick Saldivar, Ventura County operations manager. "Many of our customers have stepped up their conservation efforts, so we're pleased we're able to continue to offer turf rebates to them without interruption," he added.

California American Water is committed to continue offering turf removal rebates to its customers and is finalizing the application process and details of the program. The Company anticipates the turf rebate program to be ready to accept new applications during the month of August.
Detailed information about the program, including rebate dollar amounts and how customers can qualify and apply, will be promoted through the company's website and on social media.

In a related move, company representatives began walking door-to-door with conservation information and free hose nozzles earlier this month.

The conservation efforts in Thousand Oaks are part of a major community outreach campaign
that includes mailers, inserts and online advertising. It's all aimed at meeting the 32% water

usage reduction for California American Water customers in Thousand Oaks ordered by the
State Water Resources Control Board.
"This is the most serious drought we've ever faced, meaning it is time for all of us to use water as efficiently as possible," said Saldivar. "Numerous homeowners are up to the challenge, and California American Water is here to help."
Many California American Water customers have made great progress. Customers in Ventura County, for example, have reduced their water use by 28 percent, but more needs to be done to weather California's historic drought and meet Governor Brown's reduction target.

Four dry years in a row have decimated our water supply and reduced reservoir levels statewide. Last year was the hottest in state history, producing the lowest snowpack ever recorded in the Sierras. So this summer Thousand Oaks faces the worst drought in our community's history. In response, Governor Brown ordered strict conservation targets throughout California.

California American Water is committed to ensuring quality water continues to flow not only today, but far into the future, because water is essential for public health, fire protection, economic development, and our quality of life.
