California American Water's Monterey District to Host Community Meeting for Drought Plans

PACIFIC GROVE, CALIF. (May 19, 2015) - In order to achieve the state mandated 8-percent reduction in water use in the company's Monterey District, California American Water is revising its mandatory water rationing plan. The company will be hosting two community meetings that will consist of a panel of company representatives to answer questions about the drought, the state's updated water restrictions and how the company can help its customers achieve their conservation targets.
Free conservation items such as bathroom sink aerators, shower timers and garden hose nozzles will be available along with information on rebates for toilets, irrigation equipment and turf removal for customers attending the meeting.
"Our customers use less water per capita than nearly every other district in the state," said California American Water's Monterey Director of Operations Eric Sabolsice. "That is why our state mandated goal is the minimum eight percent, which is pretty favorable considering some districts are facing a 20 or even a 30-percent reduction. This is owed to the tremendous job our customers have done in conserving water on the Peninsula. And I'm confident our customers will be able to find an additional 8 percent as so far, this year, we are on target to do so."
