Illinois American Water's Announces $2.75 Million Investment for 3.5 Miles of Water Main

Peoria, Ill. (July 6, 2015) - Illinois American Water's Peoria District is investing approximately $2.75 million to complete water main installation projects near Mossville. Crews will begin working this month to install over 3.5 miles of water main. Projects will continue to start at varying times with completion expected this fall.
"This work will enhance and maintain reliable, quality water service to customers while also supporting critical fire protection," said
Roger Goodson, Sr. Manager Field Services and Production for Illinois American Water's Peoria District.
Illinois American Water's main replacement program focuses on replacing mains where leaks occur, corrosion has caused damage or the size of the pipe isn't sufficient. The company also works to install new water mains where none previously existed, many times completing loops and strengthening the distribution system. The project will include several streets highlighted on this map http://arcg.is/1KkmtPQ
Goodson stated, "We invest annually to ensure local water service continues to be as good as or better than local, state and federal quality standards. These projects benefit all of our customers because they help to reduce main breaks and related traffic and service impact. I want to thank our customers for their patience as we work in their neighborhoods."

Customers residing near the construction area will receive a letter with pertinent information about the projects. The U.S. EPA reports that the nation's water utilities will need to make more than $335 billion in infrastructure investments over the next 20 years to ensure public health. Illinois American W ater's investment in the Peoria District is just another example of continuous investments and improvements being made.
